There are three popular types of Cranberry today:
- Northern Cranberry: Small leaves, light pink fruit with a bitter taste, hairy on the stem. Commonly grown in Northern Europe, North America, and Canada.
- Small Cranberry: differs from regular cranberries in that the leaves are more triangular, and the flower stalk is hairless. Grown in Northern Europe and Northern Asia

Cranberries are harvested in late autumn, around September and October – when the marshy areas are flooded. Fresh cranberries are only sold from the beginning of the season to December, more than 90% are frozen or processed into jam for use throughout the year.
Unlike the woody Blueberry, the cranberry branch is thin, has no hard wood, has small green leaves all year round, and the flowers are dark pink, often pollinated naturally by honey bees. Cranberries are larger than leaves, white when small and turn dark red when fully ripe. Because it has a strong sour taste that overwhelms the sweet taste, cranberries are often made into jams, sauces and juices.
